Course Schedule
The 2027 cohort will be virtually held from ____ through ____ . Participants are eligible for up to $1,000 in travel costs reimbursement and will have their lodging and most meals purchased on their behalf by the DATA-Pro Program.
Phase I: Intensive Summer Training - 12 weeks

Weekly asynchronous e‑learning modules released every Monday via MUSC Brightspace

~3 hours/week of didactic content

Covers core concepts in data analytics, modeling approaches, and database management

Weekly virtual laboratory sessions

2.5–3 hours/week of hands‑on data exercises

Practice using SAS, R, SQL, and other analytic tools

Fully remote delivery

All coursework and labs completed online

Flexible, self‑paced weekly structure

Phase II: Guided Projects and Communication Skills Development - 12 weeks

Select a research question aligned with behavioral, social, or public health sciences after completing Phase I

Weekly mentorship meetings with assigned faculty or subject‑matter experts (via Teams or Zoom)

Research design development

Identify research gaps

Frame inquiry and formulate hypotheses/objectives

Data identification & analysis

Use MUSC databases or linked data resources

Analytical support available for extraction, linkage, and transformation

Administrative support

Assistance with secure server access, data use agreements, and IRB submission

Hands‑on research execution

Conduct full analytic workflow: data collection, analysis, interpretation

Communication & presentation training

Prepare structured presentations of research findings

Present at MUSC Research Day (first Friday of November)

Travel to MUSC in the Fall for in‑person presentations and cohort activities
